NOW HIRING: HEAD TEACHER

Position Overview: 

Deki is seeking a passionate, proactive Head Teacher for our primary school in Agweng Sub-County, who can help us achieve our vision of providing opportunities for children in Northern Uganda to rise to their full potential, and bring the region out of poverty. We are looking for an individual who will be committed to the same vision and be personally invested in the success of the school. The ideal Head Teacher will be a strong teacher, and contribute to learning and observation of other teachers at the school. They will be honest, loyal, and genuine, and be a daily model of wisdom, good work-habits, and humility for children, teachers, and the local community. We are looking for someone that is hard working, a problem solver, and open to learning new methods of teaching.  

 

About Deki:

Deki Foundation Uganda’s schools provide children in rural Northern Uganda with access to quality education so they can choose the future they want for themselves and contribute to the development of their community. Our schools are named after generous children that model the example of giving back to others. Our first school, Nahla Nursery and Primary School, opened in 2018. We expect our second school, Hayden Nursery and Primary School to open in 2020. 

 

Performance Objectives:

1. Leading Learning and Teaching 40%

2. Managing the School Expenses and Accountability 10%

3. Reporting and performance staff management 10%

4. School Events, Field excursions and Trips Management 10%

5. Oversee the Deki Teacher Coaching and Peer mentoring program 10%

6. School procedures and Regulations compliance and Management 10%

7. Strengthening Community Relations and Parental Collaboration 10%

​

Qualifications

• Grade V Teaching Certificate

• At least 4 years of teaching experience
